Things to do now I'm a member

You may be wondering what you could be doing as a member to show your support for your local Mental health services. Well here are a few ideas:

Use your voice:- Membership gives members a 'voice' when the Trust discusses the future of mental health services in our area. This is currently done through surveys and stakeholder events to which members get invited. In the future this will also be done through the Council of Governors.

Read our newsletter:- Read our Members Update, the newsletter for our members. We'll send it to all our members four times a year. Or you can read it on our website here.

Come to an event:- We organise quarterly FT member events in our area where different aspects of our services are being highlighted. These events are educational and enjoyable and the programme often includes service users and carers speaking about their experiences, active workshops, overviews of services and a number of information stalls representing different aspects of AWPs work.

Read up about the Trust:- Browse our website and read the material you come across. Find out the latest news. Or use the search box on the top right to find out specific things.

Tell us how you want to be involved:- Different people want to get involved in different ways. You may wish to stand as a Governor. You may wish to take an interest in our services by just reading the newsletter. You may wish to become a volunteer. If you are a service user or a carer you can also get involved in panels and forums, or you may want to help us recruit more members. Whichever way you want to get involved can we thank you in advance.

Check your data:- If any of the details are wrong when we write to you or you have moved house, please let us know. You can email us at foundationtrustinfo@awp.nhs.uk.

Sign up to NHS discounts:- One of the benefits of being a member is that you are eligible to join the NHS Discounts scheme. This is usually reserved for NHS employees.

'Refer a friend':- Recruit more members by sending this link to your friends or family members. The more members we have, the more representative we are of people who live in our area.

Vote:- When our Governor elections are coming up, we will write to all our relevant members asking them to vote. Members vote for the person standing from their own constituency, e.g. a service user from our Adult Services votes for a service user governor representing Adults service users or a ' public member' from Bristol votes for a public governor' representing Bristol.
