The Trust operates a charitable fund, designed to enable people to make donations or bequests to support the work of the Trust.
Called the Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust Charitable Fund, its purpose is to enhance the well being of service users and staff. In common with many NHS Charitable Funds, it is registered with the Charity Commission.
Over the years, money donated to the charitable fund has been used to support a range of activity, from research and development projects to helping make the stay of service users as pleasant and rewarding as possible through brightening up wards with pictures using service users own artwork and providing entertainment evenings, outings and recreational activities.
The charitable fund can only function if people continue to make donations. We have been fortunate to have received bequests from past service users and donations from service users and their families, staff and members of the public.
Anyone considering donating to the NHS is encouraged to consider supporting the work of the Trust by donating to the Charitable Fund.
Where a legacy is left to the Trust, this money is ring fenced to ensure that it is used for the purpose set out in the Will. Wherever possible, other donations are earmarked to be used locally and to ensure that the wishes of the donors are respected and the money is used in the way they request.
Cash or cheque donations can be accepted at any of our wards by a ward manager and the Trust has strict regulations to ensure all such donations are properly accounted for, paid into the appropriate account and acknowledged.
So the next time you think of making a donation to a charity, please do not forget to consider donating to Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust Charitable Fund.
