When you join our team you will enter an induction period during which we will make sure you have the right support to settle into and fulfil your new role. You will be appointed to a salary band, within which are a number of salary points. During your career with us you will have opportunities to advance up your pay scale. So even if there is no national pay increase, your individual pay can increase until you reach the top of your salary band.
When you join the NHS you will have 35 days paid leave per year including eight public holidays. After five years this increases to 37 days and after 10 years you will have 41 days including public holidays. If you are a member of medical staff you will have 36 days including eight public holidays when you join, rising to 42 days including public holidays after two years.
You will automatically become a member of the attractive NHS pension scheme when you join us. AWP will contribute approximately 14% of salary your pension scheme each year. The details will be in your starter pack.
Health service discounts
As an NHS employee, you and your family will be able to take advantage of an extensive range of discounts from national and local organisations, encompassing wide-ranging products and services including 50% off some big brands.
If you are eligible for childcare vouchers, you could save up to £1,196 each year in tax and national insurance contributions, depending on your individual circumstances. You can use the vouchers with most registered childcare providers – including after school and holiday clubs.
Employee support service
We are committed to supporting your wellbeing and attendance at work. You will have access to a free employee support service 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They will guide and support you on legal and consumer issues, sickness absence and bereavement, child and elder care, relationships, stress and much more.
