Trust Board to meet in Bristol

The Trust Board of Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust is taking to the road to make it easier for those interested in the work of the Trust to attend its meetings.

FromesideBoard members are committed to ensuring that the Trust puts service users and carers at the heart of everything it does and is committed to being more accessible. Board members believe that rotating its meetings across its six core local authority areas will make it easier for a wider number of people to attend.

The first of the new format of meetings will take place on Wednesday 30 May and will be held at its Fromeside unit on the Blackberry Hill site in Bristol. Anyone wishing to attend should contact Jackie Saunders on 01249 468049 to reserve a place.

The meeting will start at 10.00 with a short pre Board presentation about the Care Programme Approach and those attending will have the chance to raise questions and to make comments at the beginning of the meeting on issues which concern them.

Time will be set aside at the beginning of each Board meeting for those attending to ask questions or to comment. If time does not permit all questions to be heard, the Trust is committed to responding to any unanswered issues within 10 working days.

A random selection of praise and complaints received by the Trusts PALS team will also be available to Board members and the intention is to build into the formal meeting feedback from service users and carers on issues being considered by the Board.

Interim chair of the Trust, Anthony Gallagher said: By holding our meetings in different parts of our region, we hope to meet more service users, listen to staff in each location and get a local perspective on the work that the Trust is doing.

This is one of a number of initiatives we will be pursuing in the coming months to make the work of the Trust more open and transparent.

Members of the public and service users can turn up on Wednesday (30 May) without reserving a place although as space will be limited the Trust cannot guarantee they will be able to attend.

Details for the location for future meetings will be available on this website.
