Our NHS Heroes!

NHS Heroes 2012We were proud to announce at our staff awards ceremony this week, that fourteen of our staff and teams have also been recognised under the national NHS Heroes scheme.

The NHS Heroes scheme was launched this summer to recognise the great work that individuals and teams do every day in the NHS in England to make sure that each and every patient receives the very best care.

Julie Thomas, director of people, was delighted to award AWP's successful nominees with their NHS Heroes certificates at the start of Wednesday's ceremony. All fourteen were highly deserved of their awards.

They are:

Bristol autism spectrum service
Jo Green, SDAS team manager, Fountain Way
Dave Grundy, ward manager, Fairfax
Gerrie Holloway and Jane Bolster, women's service, Fromeside
The Lime unit team, Callington Road
Madelaine Lockmuller, professional lead for psychology, Fromeside
Emilia Love, volunteer, Swindon
Gladys Medcroft, volunteer, Gloucester House
Charlotte Richards, CARAT manager, HMP Portland
Joyce Starkie, volunteer, South Gloucestershire therapies service
Hannah Toogood, junior doctor
Raymond Ward, SDAS counsellor/therapist, Colston Fort

Julie said, "I was delighted to have the honour of presenting the certificates to our NHS Heroes. It is great to see so many colleagues receiving national recognition.

"However I consider many more of our staff and teams to be heroes in their own way. This was highlighted for me by the huge volume of staff awards nominations this year which described the amazingly dedicated work done to improve lives every day."
