FT members create their own island at recent event

50 attendees came together at the Fry Club in Keynsham on 8 March for a chance to meet other foundation trust members and hear more about AWP services.

For many, the highlight of the day was the opportunity to hear about the Forget Me Not centre in Swindon, with a number of service users describing the difference this service makes to their lives on a weekly basis. The speakers also spoke candidly about how dementia affects their lives on an everyday basis, giving some humorous examples and highlighting the impact this has on their families aFT 8 Marchnd friends.

The programme for the day also included two workshops hosted by the OT team from The Coppice at Bristol's Callington Road hospital. The arts and craft session proved to be extremely popular with members with a session which involved the creation and population of a fictional island. This exercise was a demonstration of the kind of activity that occupational therapists can use with groups of service users.

Everyone who gave feedback said they found the event "well organised", felt it "met their expectations" and said they "learnt something new".

The next event for members is part of the Visions & Values series running throughout April. These will be your opportunity to offer views on AWP's strategic thinking for the future.
