Graham Peter Coxell joins the Trust Board from today (1 April) as an associate non-executive director (NED), bringing with him a wealth of experience gained from the business and financial sector.

Graham has a strong track record of leading companies through significant growth, including acquisitions and partnerships. In 2001 he became the youngest chief executive of a FTSE 250 company at the age of 31. Graham says his main focus is to "lead the growth and transformation of business through building clearly defined strategies which together with tight management, engaging cultures and cost control deliver compelling results."

He currently holds a number of senior positions including executive chairman of the investment management and stockbroker services company Rowan Dartington & Co, and chairman of the Forward Internet Group, a company that invests and acquires companies needing transformation of growth capital. He is also chairman of JCA Occupational Psychologists, a company which helps organisations achieve greater success though getting the best from their people in a sustainable way.

AWP Chair Tony Gallagher says: "We are all delighted to welcome Graham to the Board. The model of adding an associate to increase board strength has been demonstrated with the appointment of Ruth Brunt and I am sure Graham will have as positive an impact as Ruth.

"As the competitive landscape continues to evolve in the NHS and broader healthcare system the challenges facing the Board are changing and we must broaden our scope; Graham will add significantly to this.

"Graham will be active in business case development and evaluation, relationship management and will attend finance and planning meetings in an advisory capacity"
