Christmas Presents - Whittucks Road 2015 Calendar
Staff and service users at Whuttucks Road Rehab Unit
have produced a 2015 Calendar.
Involvement Coordinators, Lee Rawlings and Bex Aspinal and OT
Bridget Walker started the 'Calander Club' project in October and
They began by gathering artwork, crafts and photography from
service users and staff at Whittucks Road. Using digital
photography, the images were then put together as a page a month
calendar showing important dates such as - World Mental Health Day,
Carers Week etc.
A successful bid to AWP charitable funds ensured the cost of the
printing was covered.
Lee and Bex said, "We have been trying to think of ways to
encourage the service users at Whittucks to engage with us and come
along to our monthly forums. The Calendar Club has been a
great way of enticing more people to the forum and we have had a
good uptake of involvement as a result of the project. We are
sorry to see it end and are thinking of what to do next.'
The new calendar was launched on 4th December at Whittucks Road
over a spread of nibbles and mulled, spiced juice drinks. Each of
the service users were presented with two calendars - one for
themselves and one to give as a gift to a friend or relative.
Ellie Fisher, manager at Whittucks Road, said 'I have been
watching people's faces as they look through the calendar and come
across a piece of their work. It is really touching to see how
happy they are to see their artwork or photography in print'
One of the service users has purchased a further nine copies of
the calendars to give to his family members as Christmas
A clear sign of a successful venture!
