Involving service users in recruitment
Twelve peer mentors from the Specialised Drug and Alcohol
Service (SDAS) have taken part in an interview training day hosted
by Involvement Coordinators Penny Stanbury and Lee Rawlings.
As AWP continues in its efforts to put the service user at the
centre of everything we do, it is important to have a service user
or carer involved in the recruiting process and on the interview
panel when recruiting staff. Therefore, making sure that
enough people are trained to be on interview panels is one of the
top priorities of the Involvement Team.
The training day covers all the information and techniques
needed for interviewing and shortlisting. We try to keep the
session as informal and interactive as possible so that it doesn't
become overwhelming or boring. At the end of the day, participants
are presented with a certificate of attendance.
