Hot Coffee 6: The Impact of Staff Wellbeing on Quality

'Overworked and overstressed: improving quality by improving workforce wellbeing' - this is the challenge for discussion at the sixth Hot Coffee, Hot Topics breakfast event in Bristol on Friday 4th April.

Work related-stress in the UK* is shown to be highest among health professionals, particularly - and ironically - in NHS mental health trusts.

Research shows that increasing the wellbeing of workers can enhance staff performance and the quality of care. Positive psychology encompasses a range of accessible techniques to encourage people to identify and develop their positive emotions, character traits and life experiences.

The sixth Hot Coffee, Hot Topics challenge, presented by occupational therapist Cat Taylor, will examine the impact of the work-related stress of our staff on our service users and asks how AWP can use positive psychology to nurture happier staff and provide a more productive service.

Hot Coffee, Hot Topics runs from 7.30am to 9.00am in the Mental Health Bristol offices at South Plaza on Friday 4 April. To book your free place - and free breakfast - call 0117 354 6200.

*2012 figures show that 1.1 million working people suffered from work-related stress and 10.4 million working days were lost.
