Street art hits Callington Road

Callington Road Street Art

Inpatient service users at Callington Road have joined forces with the Bristol Early Intervention Team to create some stunning art works and graffiti.

Heralded as home to world famous street art, Bristol can now add to its accolades! After 6 weeks' worth of workshops and the help of Dante, local street artist extraordinaire, the Callington Road graffiti project is complete and the basketball courts are looking more vibrant, unique and more 'street' than ever. Watch out Banksy, there's some new competition in town!

Backed by a successful charitable funds bid and the generous support of Lee Sollis and the Estates Management team, Cat Taylor,  Occupational Therapist started the project as a way of encouraging service users to enhance and develop their creative skills. The project has also created a positive and inspiring hospital environment and has further built community links.

Cat Taylor says, "Service users have really enjoyed getting involved and it has been a great way for them to experiment with art on a vast scale, as well as being able to contribute to something that will be here for years to come.

"Thank you to all sports and physio staff who put up with us taking over their basketball courts every Wednesday for the past seven weeks. It has been an amazing project to be part of and testament to how wonderfully innovative and forward thinking AWP can be!"
