When nature calls

When nature callsTo celebrate the tenth birthday of Whittucks Road rehabilitation unit for South Gloucestershire and B&NES, staff and service users have been getting back to nature.

The team battled the winter fog to spend a day at Westonbirt Arboretum in Gloucestershire enjoying a variety of outdoor activities as part of the Arboretum's Wellbeing Programme.

The programme is a free, six-session syllabus that leads to the John Muir Award; an engagement initiative encouraging people from all backgrounds to connect with, enjoy, and care for wild places.

Activities included cutting wood, learning how to start a fire outside and boiling the kettle for a nice cup of tea, all with very cold hands.

There was a real sense of team spirit, pride, and accomplishment felt by all who completed the tasks.

Ellie Fisher, Team Manager said "We had a fabulous day - cold, but it was really great."

This was seconded by one of the service users who said "It was really just great!"

Well done to all involved.
