Community spirit at Secure Services

Secure eventOur secure services in Bristol recently hosted a fantastic day celebrating involvement.

Service users, friends, families, staff and charity organisations all came together to fill the training area at Fromeside and hear inspiring talks, chat to people on stalls and most importantly, eat some delicious cakes!

The event offered Red Cross shoulder massages, music, drama, art psychotherapy taster sessions and a chill room where everyone could relax to some music whilst practicing mindfulness. Rethink and Time To Change were amongst 11 stalls offering information on the great involvement opportunities both within and outside of Secure Services.

There was also a surprise visit by some very special guests. Two guinea pigs were brought to the event to promote alternate therapies and the use of pets as therapies. They enjoyed all the attention and were hugely popular with guests.

The jam packed day drew to a close when two lucky service users on won raffle prizes kindly donated by B and M, Morrisons and Wetherspoons.

Involvement Coordinator Luisa Suarez, the event organiser, said, "There was a true community spirit with everyone chipping in from baking cakes to decorating the room. The whole event was co-produced and delivered with service users, family members, staff, Rethink and Bristol MIND. It just shows that true partnership working can result in huge success and I feel privileged to work with such motivated and enthusiastic people."

With over 100 attendees and a buzz that was felt throughout the unit this event will surely be the talk of the town for some time to come.

Congratulations to all involved.
