Teign Ward calms down and celebrates

Calm Down roomLuciana Berger, Shadow Minister for Mental Health will open the new Calm Down room on Teign Ward, to mark its tenth year of operation at Fromeside in Bristol.

A special celebration will he held on Wednesday 10 February, where Luciana will meet invited quests, staff and service users, be shown around the ward and at 12 noon officially open the Calm Down room.

The Calm Down room will provide a quiet, safe and sensory environment where the ladies on Teign Ward can be alone to relax and reflect.

Celebrities have been quick to recognise the importance of access to a calm and quiet area for people suffering with mental health conditions. Teign Ward has received congratulations and messages of support from Zoe Wannamaker and HRH The Duchess of Cambridge.

Rachel Heron, Service Manager Nursing said "I am proud of the work that our Safe Ward Champions have done to organise and design the Calm Down room and the recognition that is has received. This will be a welcome addition to Teign Ward and aid recovery."

Fromeside is a purpose-built medium secure unit, situated within the Blackberry Hill Hospital site. It supports people with mental health problems who require a safe and secure environment and enables them to receive a wide range of treatments, therapies and care to assist in their recovery.
