Pampering carers in Carers Week
Carers in B&NES were
treated to a special day of pampering and creativity to celebrate
Carers Week 2016.
AWP teamed up with St John's Hospital Bubble (a vibrant
community facility, for the over 55s in Bath, offering a range of
activities to bring people together) and the Carers Centre to hold
a 'pamper day' especially for carers, to give them time to focus on
The Holistic Hut situated in the beautiful grounds of the Bath
Carers' Centre, was transformed into a peaceful and calming space.
Complementary health therapists provided 'taster' treatments of
reflexology, massage and face yoga. The newly formed 'Bath
Health Heroes' local wellbeing team, provided relaxing
complementary therapy sessions, and Bath College Health and Beauty
students generously provided hand massages for everyone.
Local artist Steve Hedley ran an art project to encourage carers
to take part in a creative activity. Carers contributed to a
live-art canvas painting, as well as having the opportunity to
paint pebbles to take home. The art materials were provided by
AWP's Charitable Funds.
Daniel Badman quality director for B&NES said "The carers
all thoroughly enjoyed their treatment sessions and it was a
privilege to be part of this wonderful event looking after local
carers who really deserve a treat."
A free raffle which included an original canvas by Steve Hedley
and a free goody bag rounded off the day and everyone who came also
left armed with information about where to find support and help
with their wellbeing.
Thank you to all the AWP staff who kindly donated toiletries and
to local company Acheson and Acheson for their large donation of
