Birthday skydive for Beechlydene

CReesWhat do you get the man who has everything? A tandem skydive apparently!

AWP Ward Manager Chris Rees will be celebrating his 50th birthday next month by falling 15,000 feet for charity, after his wife Kristina, who also works for our Trust, gave him a skydive as a present.

Chris, based at Beechlydene Ward at Fountain Way in Salisbury, is doing the sponsored skydive to raise money to purchase items for service users and staff on the ward and to raise awareness of men's health.

"I've always wanted to complete a parachute jump" said Chris. "I decided to do this for my 50th Birthday and combine it with doing some good."

"Having worked for many years on an acute psychiatric ward, I am well aware of the challenges involved in making the environment welcoming and supportive of recovery by facilitating a broad variety of activities. Also due to my own experiences, I would like to promote and support men's health charities. As the skydive is a present, all the money raised will go towards supporting these two worthwhile causes."

Once Chris has landed safely, there will also be a raffle and further celebrations at home. Local businesses SGS Plumbing, KD Personal Fitness Training, Curley Haired Jewels, Karen Pollard Mobile Hairdresser, Stonehenge Crossfit, Dancing Hogs and Wilton Chiropractic have pledged their support and donated items for the raffle.

Chris will skydiving at Old Sarum Airfield in Salisbury on his birthday, Sunday 3 April 2016 at 12 noon.
