Completion of Joining the Dots pilot

The Bristol Joining the Dots digital solutions development pilot has now been completed.

The pilot, a partnership between AWP and Otsuka Health Solutions (OHS), looked at how health data could be used to improve decision making and provide better mental health services.

Service users and carers made a huge contribution to the project along with staff across Bristol Mental Health (BMH). They helped develop tools to make sure resources are targeted at those who need them most, for example, by predicting who might need access to unplanned care.

Tools also include a programme using insights into population-based data to enable AWP to model resourcing scenarios that start with the needs of service users, plus a care pathway tool developed to encourage co-production of care plans.

These have already made a difference to how care is provided in BMH and will continue to do so. The development of tools has been of great benefit, as has the system approach of partnership working, but they have now reached a point where AWP feels it can move to the next phase of development using internal resources and expertise.

OHS also plans to continue to develop the solutions with other parts of the NHS.
