New film to help people with learning disabilities

LDFilmA new film has been launched by AWP's services for people with learning disabilities.

The film, which was premiered at the recent Learning Disabilities Celebration Day, explains AWP services for people with learning disabilities who come into contact with the criminal justice system.

Staff from AWP Forensic Community Learning Disabilities Team (CLDT), the Criminal Justice Liaison Service and the Liaison and Diversion Service, along with members of the Forensic CLDT Service User Forum, all took part in the film, which was sensitively made by film-maker Florence Pellacani.

Forensic CLDT team leader Wendy Goodman, said, "The film can be used to explain to people with learning disabilities the sort of support that is available to them if they are arrested, go to court or prison, or need help around their risk of offending in the community. We're proud of the film and everyone who took part, and we hope it will help many more people to understand the help that is available to them."

The film is available on AWP's Youtube channel and via the learning disabilities pages on the AWP website
