Staff Awards 2018
Do you know a member of AWP staff or an AWP team who gives
exceptional care or brilliant service? If so, why not
nominate them for an AWP staff award?
The categories in this year's awards offer something for
everyone - clinical staff, non-clinical staff, learners and
volunteers - and are open to individuals and/or teams.
Anyone - service users, carers, health and social care
colleagues in other organisations as well as AWP staff - can
nominate an AWP staff member or team for an award.
A judging panel will meet to shortlist the nominations for each
category and then to decide the finalists.
We will also be celebrating our Long Service Awards for staff
who have given a total of 30 years' NHS service.
Hayley Richards, Chief Executive, said: "We recognise that
our staff play the most important role in supporting our service
users, their families and carers. They are dedicated, compassionate
and committed individuals who bring hope and make a real
difference, every day.
"We want to celebrate them and their work and show how much
they are valued. Please think about all the people you know who
lead by example, who demonstrate passion and excellence, innovation
and care, who go above and beyond whatever their role, and get
Nominees who are shortlisted will be invited to the celebration
on Friday 16 November.

AWP's annual staff awards scheme celebrates the dedication of
our staff, as well as our volunteers and involvees.
This year, our staff awards celebrate:

The contribution of volunteers and involvees
The dedication of staff who have completed 30 years' service in
Nominations come from colleagues, service users, families and
carers and others who want to highlight some of the great work of
AWP staff and volunteers and their outstanding contributions to the
service we provide.
If you'd like to show your appreciation for a member of our staff,
There is also a NEW Award Category for 2018 -
the Service user and carer choice award. This category is
exclusively for our service users, carers, and
their families to vote in.

Behind the scenes
Non-clinical staff, involvees or volunteers who demonstrate
commitment, diligence and a 'can do' attitude to provide an
exceptional level of support to our frontline services.
Clinical staff who show initiative and high levels of personal
motivation to provide exceptionally high quality of care.
Individuals, or teams, who have shown extraordinary compassion
and kindness in all aspects of their work and who goes the extra
mile to meet the individual needs of service users and carers.
An individual who is brilliant at doing their job. They are
loyal, committed and flexible and you know you can rely on them to
get the job done. One clinical and one non-clinical winner.
Leading by example
An individual who has used their exceptional leadership skills
to inspire and motivate colleagues and to uphold or improve
quality. One clinical and one non-clinical winner.
Learner of the year
Open to all learners who are on programmes leading to a formal
qualification. This award recognises where workforce development or
education and training have made a difference to the quality of
services and patient care and service user experience.
Individuals who are highly regarded as an 'expert' in their
field and who, over their career have made significant
contributions to the quality of services.
Individuals or teams who have been able to demonstrate how
patient safety has improved, as a result of implementing learning
following a serious untoward incident.
Recovery and hope
An individual or group of volunteers or involvees who made a
real difference to the lives of service users or carers. The winner
will have improved the wellbeing of service users or carers on the
wards or in the community, complementing the work of staff.
Research, innovation and improvement
New or existing ideas/projects that have been exceptionally well
implemented to improve services, in particular were evidence has
been used intelligently as part of the improvement process.
*NEW* Award Category for 2018 - Service user and carer
For service users, their families or carers to nominate a member
of staff or a team who has gone the extra mile and made a real
difference through providing outstanding care.
The Long Service Awards
These are for all AWP staff who have completed a total of 30
years' NHS service this year, with or without a career break. This
includes staff who worked for a local authority which has been
transferred into AWP.
