A close shave for Tiff

ToverTafelConsultant psychiatrist Tiff Earle has made a hair-raising decision in the name of ground-breaking dementia care…

"I am a Warrior of Wellbeing; we are a group of diverse organisations in North Somerset, battling to raise mental health awareness and reduce stigma. As an NHS consultant psychiatrist, I want to do whatever it takes to help the 1 in 4 people who will have mental health issues.

The ToverTafel magic table is a ground-breaking interactive sound and light experience for people with severe dementia and we want to buy one for Dune ward, our dementia inpatient unit in North Somerset.

It is proven to increase wellbeing and provide those 'moments of happiness' that can be hard for these patients to capture.

My hair will grow back - I may get some strange looks for a while, but this is nothing compared to the stigma and discrimination mental health patients suffer every day!

My hair will also be donated to Little Princess charity, which makes wigs for children who have lost their hair through illness.

My very public head shave will take place at the fantastic Feelgood Festival at the Italian Gardens, Weston super Mare on 19th May, which will also have music, stalls and wellbeing activities. I have set up a Justgiving page for donations - please donate and support us, and come along on the day!"
