Celebrating our staff – the results are in

Glynn And FrankStaff from across Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership (AWP) NHS Trust have come together to celebrate their hard work, dedication and achievements.

The annual Staff Awards ceremony took place on Friday 16 November at the Apex City of Bath Hotel.  The Staff Awards are now in their ninth year and attendees were joined this year by guest speaker, former boxer Frank Bruno MBE, who answered questions about his own mental health and experience of being diagnosed and living with bipolar along with a couple of boxing stories.

Around 200 staff, volunteers, service users and carers attended and awards were presented in 14 categories, including a new award for this year - the Service User and Carer Choice Award. This was for service users and their families/carers to nominate an individual or team from AWP who had really made a difference to them and was judged by service users and carers.

In addition, long service awards were presented to 38 members of staff who have given a minimum of 30 years dedication to the NHS, which equates to more than 1,140 years between them.

Charlotte Hitchings, Chair of AWP, said: "The Annual Staff Awards celebrate the amazing work of our colleagues across the Trust. It has been inspiring to hear about the dedication, commitment and compassion of all those who were nominated.

"I would like to say a huge thank you and congratulations to all of the nominees and winners for everything they do on a daily basis to ensure we provide a high quality, caring service."

Dr Hayley Richards, Chief Executive, AWP, said: ""I am very proud of all of our staff who work tirelessly to ensure our service users can recover and live their best life. These awards are about recognising some of the excellent work being carried out across our organisation and all those who were nominated should feel extremely proud of their achievements.

"Everyone nominated for an Award represents the strong values which the Trust is built on, and I thank them for their hard work and commitment."

More than 470 nominations were received for this year's awards from staff, service users and carers.
