New appointment to the AWP Board

Brian Saturated

Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership (AWP) NHS Trust has welcomed Brian Stables as a new Non-Executive Director to the Trust Board.

Brian has joined the Trust from his previous role as Chairman of the Royal United Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (RUH), in Bath.

With 17 years of experience working in acute and primary care, including his nine years at the RUH, Brian has previously undertaken roles as Foundation Trust Network Board Member and Trustee, as well as a Trustee of a mental health charity in Trowbridge. He was a Non-Executive Director and Vice Chairman at NHS Wiltshire and is also currently a Trustee of Wiltshire Mind.

Brian said: "Having been a Trustee of a mental health charity in Trowbridge and now Wiltshire Mind, I'm motivated to raise awareness locally of mental health and the services available, work towards achieving true parity of esteem between mental and physical health, and work with primary care providers such as GPs to better support signposting to appropriate services.

"I've always been a great supporter of integrated care, and strongly believe that mental health needs to be a full partner in local and national healthcare."

Brian has a Masters degree in Business Administration and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (FCMA) and also tutors as an Associate Lecturer on the Open University Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship programme as well as tutors with the Healthcare Financial Management Association on postgraduate programmes.

AWP Chair, Charlotte Hitchings, said: "I am really pleased that Brian has joined the AWP Board. He has a wealth of experience and knowledge in both acute and mental health care, which I know will be hugely beneficial to the Trust, and a real commitment to ensuring we provide the highest possible quality of care."
