Treatment for eating disorders

Clouds - STEPS

The STEPs team was formed in 1999 in response to an increasing demand for a specialised treatment for eating disorders.  We have been growing and developing ever since.  Whilst we have always been based at Southmead Hospital, we moved to our stand alone unit on Clifton Ward in April 2012 initially, with the final phase of work being completed in November 2012.  This move brought both inpatient and community Services under one roof as well as increasing our inpatient capacity.  In July 2013 we launched our Bristol Primary Care Service, First Step, providing a seamless referral process from GP to specialist treatment.

We work with people of a diagnosis of Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and EDNOS (Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified).

You can access a new resource here created by the EDHIT (Eating Disorder Health Integration Team, Bristol). The guide is designed for anyone affected by eating disorders or problems around eating and bodyweight, including those struggling personally, parents, families, friends and professionals.  It contains a range of signposting information, advice and guidance from local and National charities and organisations. Many of the organisations listed contain advice on self-help as well as access to support.
