The STEPs team was formed in 1999 in response to an increasing
demand for a specialised treatment for eating disorders. We
have been growing and developing ever since. Whilst we have
always been based at Southmead Hospital, we moved to our stand
alone unit on Clifton Ward in April 2012 initially, with the final
phase of work being completed in November 2012. This move

launched our Bristol Primary Care Service, First Step, providing a
seamless referral process from GP to specialist treatment.
We work with people of a diagnosis of Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia
Nervosa and EDNOS (Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified).
