For many people living with mental health challenges, finding strength - physically and emotionally - can feel like an uphill climb. At Amblescroft North, our physiotherapy gym is helping to change that. It’s more than a place to exercise. It’s a space where confidence grows, hope returns and small victories build into something bigger.
Our physiotherapy team works closely with service users to create tailored sessions that support mobility, reduce pain and rebuild physical strength. But the impact reaches far beyond the body. Time and again, people tell us how movement has helped lift their mood, restore motivation and remind them of what they’re capable of.
Below are just a few reflections from those who’ve taken part:
Christine told us, “I didn’t think I was going to enjoy it. But now I’m addicted - it makes me feel so good and positive.”
Hazel shared, “I didn’t know what to expect, but now I actually enjoy going to the gym!”
Gill, aged 85, said, “I didn’t think I could do any of it, but I surprised myself. I hate the exercises - but I keep going because I know they’re good for me.”
And Jenny reflected, “Maybe I’m not feeling too good today, and it’s a hard day. But just making the effort to show up at the gym takes my mind off things - it gives me hope for the future.”
These aren’t just gym sessions. They’re moments of courage. Moments where someone chooses to keep going, to try something new, to reclaim a sense of independence and dignity. Every stretch, lift and step is part of rebuilding something important - physically, mentally and emotionally.
At Amblescroft North, we see every day that progress doesn’t have to be dramatic to be meaningful. Sometimes the biggest breakthroughs come from the smallest steps.
Every step forward truly counts.
