At AWP, National Apprenticeship Week is more than a date in the calendar - it's a moment to honour the people who are shaping the future of mental health care with courage, curiosity and compassion.
Every day, apprentices across AWP step into roles that change lives. They support service users through their most vulnerable moments, strengthen the teams around them and bring fresh energy, new ideas and a deep commitment to learning.
Whether in clinical pathways or non-clinical roles, apprenticeships give our staff the chance to learn, develop and thrive while making a real difference. Each year, we come together for the AWP Apprenticeship Awards - a celebration of dedication, resilience and achievement.
This year, we are especially proud to spotlight three Mental Health T-Level students whose placements have already left a lasting impression on our services:
- Vee has grown into a confident communicator, developing empathy, active listening and even mastering Soup Thursdays. Her experience with AWP helped her secure three university offers to study Mental Health Nursing - a testament to her passion and potential.
- Jayden has discovered new confidence through hands-on experience with service users. Learning about medications and hearing staff share their lived expertise has shaped his understanding of compassionate care. He describes AWP as supportive, friendly and a place where questions are always welcomed.
- Layci has found joy in watching service users progress and has built skills that will stay with her for life. With her confidence growing, she plans to take a gap year before exploring an apprenticeship with AWP - a journey we would be proud to support.
These students represent the next generation of mental health professionals: thoughtful, committed and full of promise. We welcomed our first T-Level learners in November 2025, and we are excited to welcome even more in the months ahead.
As we celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, we invite you to join us in recognising the apprentices who bring heart, hope and humanity to AWP. Their dedication is shaping the future of mental health care - one learner, one placement, one moment of compassion at a time.
