Local people experiencing the more serious impacts of OCD can self-refer to free, confidential NHS support.
The number of younger adults in England reporting symptoms of obsessive-compulsive disorder, or more widely known as OCD, has more than tripled in a decade according to a recent BBC report.
OCD is a disorder where you have recurring, unwanted thoughts, ideas or obsessions that make you feel driven to do something repetitively
The Bath, Swindon and Wiltshire Talking Therapies service, run by Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust, provides free and confidential NHS support for people experiencing more common mental health challenges, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) which may help those experiencing symptoms of OCD.
Aileen McArthur, Head of BSW Talking Therapies said: “Living with OCD can feel like a real battle. There are treatments that are proven to really work and help people live a fulfilling life where OCD is no longer in the driving seat. Feelings of embarrassment and shame are common but don’t let these be barriers to getting effective help”.
