Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health NHS Partnership is proud to celebrate Overseas NHS Workers Day recognising the valuable diversity and contributions made by oversees workers.

Founded in 2021 by The Doctors’ Association UK, Overseas NHS Workers Day (Friday 1 March), was created to recognise the extraordinary contribution that people who have migrated to the UK play in the NHS.

As of 31 December 2023, the Trust has welcomed colleagues from over 766 diverse communities ranging from Fiji, Costa Rica to Ireland and Bulgaria, and we are proud to work together to provide care for patients from all backgrounds.  We couldn’t do what we do without the support of our diverse, global workforce and we have most recently worked with partners from across the Integrated Care Board of Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire, to recruit from overseas.

Sarah Jones, Director of Nursing and Quality, said: “Overseas workers play a valuable role across the Trust in how we treat and support our communities.

“We welcome the skills, experience and knowledge they bring which enriches our workforce, and thank them for the contribution they make to the Trust, the NHS and to their patients.

“To move your life and work to another country is an incredibly brave decision to make and we hope our overseas workers feel welcome and at home at AWP.”
