The Wellbeing Matters service is a collaboration with Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG). It was created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to maintain and improve the wellbeing of all health and care key workers in Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire (BSW).

The Wellbeing Matters service is made up of a group of clinicians, non-clinicians and managers who meet regularly to support staff through the demands of the pandemic, with a focus on:

  • listening to staff to understand their wellbeing needs.
  • finding ways to respond to the needs of staff.
  • evaluate the impact of health and wellbeing initiatives.
  • facilitate conversations about health and wellbeing in staff meetings.

If you are a health or care key worker accessing the Wellbeing Matters service, clinicians will be able to signpost you to resources and interventions for a range of difficulties, including:

  • feeling low, depressed or unmotivated.
  • feeling anxious or worried about things.
  • difficulties relaxing or getting to sleep.
  • feeling more tired than usual with a lack of energy.
  • losing interest in activities you would normally enjoy.
  • feeling angry or frustrated over things that would not normally concern you.
  • feeling frightened of doing things that you used to feel fine with, like going outside.

The BSW Wellbeing Matters team can also offer advice and support to organisations in the area who employ health and social care staff.

In Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire, a similar service called the Healthier Together Support Network is available to offer key workers psychological assessments and therapy for work-related trauma. The service can help staff explore the best support options for their needs, which may include signposting to other services.
